International Student Welcome
In past years, we have had an “International Freshers’ Week” which took place the week before domestic freshers’ week. It consisted of a whole week of activities for our international students, and was a chance for international students to settle in, get to know other students in a similar position to them and sort out all of the practical elements necessary to start their life in the UK. They would also have a group of helpers dedicated to their welcome who arrived back early from the summer break and were either international students themselves or experienced in welcoming students to Aston. This year, the university decided to completely ‘integrate’ it into domestic freshers’ week, the reason for this being so international students wouldn’t feel isolated from everyone else.
