This year’s Go Green Week features a wide range of sustainability themed activities and events including wildlife walks, a hidden spaces tour, a second hand bike sale and a food market. One of the main themes for this year’s week is plastic recycling. Help us to collect plastic litter from the canal side on Monday, meet zero waste experts on Tuesday, receive cash for recycling your plastic bottles on Thursday and get creative making sculptures from plastic waste on Friday!

STAGS CHARITY WEEK

Aston University Men’s Football Club are putting on a whole week of charitable events to raise money for Acorns Children’s Hospice, a local Midlands based charity who look after thousands of children with life limiting and life threatening illnesses.

They have only been collecting donations for a few days now and have managed to raise over £2000!!! From a FIFA 18 tournament to their St Paddy’s Day event at Players Bar, there is plenty for everyone to get involved!

JOBSHOP RECRUITMENT EVENTS

Tuesday 13th March – Show and Event Security are in the Student Union Foyer from 9am to 4pm hiring on the day which various part time roles available paying £7.50 to £13 per hour.

Thursday 15th March – Smaller Earth will be discussing opportunity of a lifetime to work in America and Canada for 9 weeks earning up to $1500! Roles include sport coaching, performing arts and other exciting opportunities.

HATE CRIME RESEARCH

Aston University is conducting research into students' experiences of harassment and hate crime. The University of Leicester are hosting the first annual TISCA (the International Student Conference of Africa) event in April 2018.

The conference will be held over two days on Sat 21st and Sunday 22nd April and will involve some social activities on the evening of Fri 20th. The conference will include inspiring and informative presentations and workshops and a social event on Sat 21st with music, food and dancing.

MOCK COMMONWEALTH SUMMIT

Birmingham is hosting its first Mock 'Commonwealth Heads of Government' Summit on 29th September promoted by the Birmingham Commonwealth Association alongside student unions, Higher and Further Education bodies and other interest parties.

The aim is to bring students and new generations alive to the Commonwealth with people-to-people links praised by statesmen from Winston Churchill to Robin Cook as crucial to the UK’s world role in the run-up to the Birmingham Commonwealth Games in 2022.
