Report An Accident or Injury

Why reporting matters?

Keeping our members safe is our top priority. If an accident, incident or injury occurs during any club activity, it’s essential that we are made aware as soon as possible. Accurate reporting helps us respond appropriately, provide support, and improve safety for everyone.

What should be reported?

Please report any of the following:

  • Injuries sustained during training, matches or club events.
  • Accidents involving players, coaches, volunteers, or spectators.
  • Incidents requiring first aid.

No matter how minor something may seem, reporting helps us keep standards high and prevent future incidents.

It is the Club Committee's responsibility to ensure all accidents, injuries and incidents are recorded and followed up.
If you witness or are involved in an incident, please notify a committee member immediately so the correct process can be followed.

How to report an injury?

1. If an injury of any nature occurs during either an Aston session or a fixture, players must fill in the Near Miss Form as soon as possible, and hand it in to ASU Athletic Union or a picture of the form should be sent to sport@union.aston.ac.uk

2. If a student decides they want to make an injury claim they will be sent two forms. One form will tell the student(s) what the insurance is and what they insure and what they do not insure.
The other form is the claim form. Once that form is completed students will need to let Aston Students' Union know in person or via email sport@union.aston.ac.uk

What happens next?

Following the completion of the form(s) information will be sent about the Rise and Recovery support group.
Reach out and seek support. Following discussion at support group, if students require further support, they will be directed to support services.
