Let’s Talk About Men’s Mental Health 💬

Movember is not just about growing mustaches... it’s about raising awareness for men’s mental health. Around the world, men face unique challenges, and here in Birmingham, students and staff are stepping up to start the conversation. This International Men’s Day (19th November), we’re joining the movement.

Why Men’s Mental Health Matters

Men are often less likely to seek support for their mental health, and several factors contribute to this challenge:

  • Social stigma and cultural expectations discourage men from opening up.
  • Fears of being perceived as "weak" can prevent them from seeking help.
  • University life can add pressure, as balancing studies, work, and social commitments can strain mental wellbeing.

Movember at Aston Students' Union

Movember at Aston Students' Union celebrates the collective effort of our staff, clubs, and societies as they raise awareness, spark conversations, and show solidarity for men's health.

Many of our staff and student groups are taking part in Movember or spreading awareness this month. We love seeing the creativity of our clubs and societies; check out their updates and show your support!

How You Can Get Involved:

You can make a real difference by getting involved in simple, meaningful ways:

  • Talk openly about mental health with friends, classmates, or colleagues.
  • Support Movember participants by sharing their stories or donating.
  • Participate in awareness events or online campaigns happening across Birmingham this month.
