What is Amnesty? 

One of the world’s largest Human Rights organisations campaigning against inequality and exposing abuses to help transform societies to create a safer, more just world.

Campaigning and awareness  

Upholding the main aims of Amnesty International, including aims to promote freedom of speech and expression, freedom from discrimination and protecting men, women and children in situations involving denial of rights to justice and truth.

1. The Let’s Talk about Yes campaign  

Engaging activists and young people of all genders and backgrounds to talk about sexual consent and contribute to a ‘consent culture’

2. The Stop Killer Robots campaign

Raising awareness against continuous proliferation of lethal autonomous weapons or ‘killer robots’

3. The I Am Who I Say I Am campaign

Focusing on gender inclusivity and support for the LGBTQ+ community.

4. The Write for Rights campaign

Writing letters to governmental authorities for people who are in immediate danger of torture, execution, receiving and death penalty or making appeals for release of prisoners.

 Other activities and events 

Social events for fundraising initiatives such as pub quizzes, Jamnesty socials, Amnestea conversations and fundraisers.

Occasional events in collaboration with other societies and other Amnesty student groups

Introducing new initiatives such as a monthly online newsletter, which will serve as a platform for members to contribute articles aimed at raising awareness and inspiring action against human rights abuses worldwide.
