About Us

Aston European Affairs Society

The Aston European Affairs Society is a student-led professional network connecting Aston students with the institutions, policymakers and practitioners shaping modern Europe.

We exist to bridge the gap between studying in the UK to working abroad and actually understanding how it works, giving students direct, structured access to the European affairs world and the people working within it, rather than just discussing it from a distance.

What we offer:

  • Networking with professionals working in EU institutions, think tanks, NGOs and diplomatic missions, through guest speakers, panels and events
  • Placement and internship advice from students who've done it, covering applications, interviews and what it's actually like working in Brussels, Geneva and beyond
  • Professional development, including CV and LinkedIn workshops and career guidance for policy, diplomacy, law and international affairs
  • Institutional access through the European Affairs Societies Network (EASN), a UK-wide network coordinated by the EU Delegation to the UK
  • Academic partnerships with Aston's departments and research centres working on European affairs

We're open to all students, whatever your course, background or nationality. If you're building toward a career in diplomacy, law, politics, business, media or international affairs, this is your network.

Founded by students who've spent their placement years working and studying inside European institutions, we know what it takes to break in, and we're here to help you do the same.
