Who are we?
Badminton is the fastest racket sport in the world. Join Aston Hawks now to find your place in this sport, may it be competitive play in BUCS and BBL, casual play with newly made friends or just to keep you away from the books, Aston Hawks has a place for you. Aston Badminton Club is an ever-growing, motivated sports club here at Aston University. A club that strives to provide the best and friendliest service to all students. Encouraging freshers and returning students to keep fit, have fun and make new friends throughout their journey at Aston.
What do we do?
BUCS Official Aston Hawks Badminton Squad
Each year a NEW women's and men's squad is selected by the new captains. TEAM TRIALS are held at the beginning of the academic year where it's YOUR time to shine, to stand out and become a representative of Aston Hawks Badminton. Home and away LEAGUE MATCHES occur every Wednesday against other Universities in the UK. You will also receive weekly TRAINING SESSIONS in the Woodcock Sports Centre on campus.
Casual Social Sessions
There are THREE social sessions per week for our members who like to play for fun and socialise! They are running on a 'PEG system' whereby our Social Coordinator will ensure each person gets to play and mixes it up a little.
Fun, exciting socials!
Fantastic socials are organised by the social secretary that is mostly open to all members of the club. A nice way to get out of your bubble and to integrate with others. The socials include nights out, bowling, ice-skating, Nandos, German Christmas market, karaoke etc.
What do you get for your money?
The club offers two types of memberships - Standard and Premium.
STANDARD MEMBERSHIP: access to the Tuesday 19:00 - 21:00 Hall 2 social sessions where plastic shuttles and rackets will be provided.
PREMIUM MEMBERSHIP: access to the Thursday 09:30 - 11:30 & Friday 13:30 - 15:30 both in Hall 1, as well as the Standard session, social sessions where feathered shuttles and rackets will be provided.
Not only will you be investing your money into a well-worth sports membership, but you will also be joining a friendly badminton community!
