Welcome to Aston University Music Society!
Want to play music and meet like-minded people? Then the Aston University Music Society is for you!
We have a Choir, a Big Band, and an Orchestra
For you pianists and percussionists out there we also have two grands, two upright pianos, a Clavinova and a drum kit for your use. So there really is something for everyone!
Whether you are an experienced musician, fancy doing something different or want to ‘blow the dust off your instrument’, then come along
Our base rate membership to be part of the society is only £15. For this you can have access to our ensembles and use our pianos, drum kit and practice rooms in the Main Building, including one open 24hrs! Want to play in our ensembles? For only £5 a term (2 terms) you can join one, or all three!
We hold concerts at the end of terms 1 and 2 to showcase the talents and hard work of our members, giving you the chance to play and sing, whether as part of one our ensembles, or maybe even as a solo slot. Bring along your friends, families and flatmates!
So if you want a society where you can:
- Meet new and like-minded people
- Have fun making music with others
- Find out about local music events
- Perform at our concerts, societies’ balls, and other events
- Develop your musical ability either as an individual or part of an ensemble
- Attend fun socials not just focused on drinking
…then the Aston Music Society is for you!

As our University Vice-Chancellor said at one our recent events:
“It was great to have the University Big Band playing at Charter Dinner this year. They looked and sounded very professional and it was an excellent opportunity to showcase just what Aston students can do. It is particularly noteworthy, given that none of our students study music here – this is completely extra-curricular engagement and a real asset to the University.” Alec Cameron, 2019
