Joining a club or society here at Aston is easy! Simply find the page of the club/society you wish to join, sign in to the website with your Aston Student log-in, and add your chosen membership to your basket! If you'd prefer to pay in person, you can always come along to the SA office on the ground floor of the Students' Union Building, where we'll be happy to help. We can take card or cash.

We love hearing your ideas for new clubs and societies, and we'll give you all the support you need in establishing your group. In order to submit your idea to us, just complete this form, and submit it to student.activities@aston.ac.uk.

Our clubs and societies range in cost, with societies costing as little as £2, and clubs costing from £10 upwards. The amount you pay is decided by the committee of each club or society. These prices cover the costs of running the club or society, and all joining fees go directly back into the account of the club or society.

The Athletic Union membership is a £15 annual membership that students must pay in addition to the joining fee for any clubs. This is a contribution towards coaching funds, transport, insurance and more. Full details of what the Athletic Union membership contributes towards can be found here.

Unless otherwise stated* a membership purchased for a Society/Club lasts for Term 1 and 2 and may include limited activity during the Term 3 and revision/exam period. You will then need to renew your membership by paying the joining fee each academic year.

* Some clubs offer Term membership, which should be labelled as such prior to purchase.

Most of our clubs and societies will have a contact email address on their Union webpage which is monitored by the committee. The majority of our clubs and societies are also very active on social media, so look them up and see what they're getting up to!

How often you attend club or society events is up to you! You can dedicate a lot of time to the group, or as little as you want. Sports clubs may differ slightly as they are competitive teams, so it is always best to check with the committee before you join. Most of our sports clubs also have social options, so that you can join in and take part, without the commitment.

We can offer refunds on memberships purchased up to 30 days after the first day of term. You will just need to email student.activities@aston.ac.uk or visit the Student Activities office in the Students Union building! If you decide after this deadline that you would like a refund on your membership, you will need permission from the committee of the club/society. Committees are not obliged to permit refunds after this deadline, and they will assess any requests on a case by case basis.

Alumni may purchase 'SU Alumni' Membership to then be eligible to purchase the Alumni Memberhsip option for a Club or Society.

Unfortunately at this time we are unable to allow students from any other university or ony non-Aston individuals to join our clubs or societies.
