OneCity Forum

Wednesday 27 November 2019 / 1pm - 6pm

Aston Students' Union

Birmingham is Britain's second-largest student city, with over 65,000 students.

There are important issues that affect all students in Birmingham, and together, we have to power to tackle them.
This is the goal of OneCity: to unite the student population of the five main Birmingham-based universities with a common aim.

On Wednesday 27th November from 1-5PM, Aston Students' Union will host the fifth annual forum to discuss the issues that matter most to Birmingham students.

We'll spend the first half of the event discussing issues that matter to Birmingham students, and then we'll build our Vision for Birmingham, and create a plan to improve the lives of all students in the city.

Wellbeing & Safety

Is Birmingham a safe place to be a student?  When it comes to students’ wellbeing, are universities doing enough? Whose responsibility is student welfare? Under this theme, we’ll explore issues that students face on campus and in the city that affect our welfare and safety.

Diversity & Inclusion

Universities should reflect and respect the diversity of their students, and people from all walks of life should be able to get on and be included in university life. However, this isn't always the case. We think things can be better in Birmingham, and in this section we'll work out what.

Our City

Does the city of Birmingham work for students? Does it do enough to protect our environment? We want your views to create a better city for students.

Our Education

The Attainment Gap. Personal Tutors. The Augar Review. Things are turbulent in universities right now - but what can we do about it?

Your contributions at the forum will help to build a manifesto for a Birmingham that delivers more for students.
The event is free, and food and refreshments will be provided.
