This Sunday, the clocks go back one hour, marking the end of British Summer Time. While we all get an extra hour in bed, it also means it will start getting darker earlier in the day. As the nights draw in, it’s important to stay safe when walking to and from campus.

Here are some tips to keep in mind:

  1. Stick to Well-Lit Routes – Try to use paths that are well-lit and avoid shortcuts through poorly lit areas.
  2. Walk in Groups – If possible, walk with friends or in groups, especially during late evenings.
  3. Stay Aware – Keep your headphones low or off, and stay alert to your surroundings.
  4. Use Campus Security – If you feel unsafe, reach out to Aston University's Campus Safety Team on  0121 204 4803. You can also use the SafeZone App to report incidents. For emergencies dial 999.
  5. Wear Reflective Gear – Wearing bright or reflective clothing can make you more visible to drivers and cyclists.

Let’s all take extra care and look out for one another as the evenings get darker!
