Three great SU wins for Aston students!

At the last Learning and Teaching Committee (LTC), the University approved a number of changes that the Students' Union has either driven or been heavily involved in.

At the last Learning and Teaching Committee (LTC), the University approved a number of changes that the Students' Union has either driven or been heavily involved in.

1. Feedback to Students on Examination Performance

Thanks to some hard work by Amna (SU President), from this academic year, as a minimum requirement, all Schools are expected to provide a generic feedback report to students for each examination paper. LTC is developing a Generic Examination Feedback Proforma for this purpose that will be available before the January 2019 examination session.

2. Student Mental Health and Wellbeing Strategy

LTC approved a Student Mental Health and Wellbeing Strategy, which aims to provide a coordinated institutional response to promoting student mental wellbeing. Alice (Vice President Welfare) and the Students' Union have worked with the university to develop the strategy and have contributed the SU perspective and feedback. Further work is to be carried out led by the University Head of Wellbeing and Enabling, to operationalise the policy, so we'll bring you more news as this develops.

3. Student Group Work

Driven by Amna, LTC has agreed that a scoping exercise should be carried out in each School to find out where and how group work is being used, and to use this information as the basis for developing some guiding principles. This information is being gathered by the School Associate Deans Learning and Teaching and coordinated by CLIPP and the Students’ Union. Again, we'll keep you posted on progress.
