In November 2022, the Men's Football, Rugby, Hockey, Snow, and Swimming clubs at Aston Students' Union joined forces to raise funds for men's mental health in the annual Movember campaign.

They managed to raise an impressive £7,503.38, all of which was donated to the Movember Foundation - a global charity that focuses on men's mental health, suicide prevention, prostate cancer, and testicular cancer.

The campaign encourages men to grow moustaches during November to raise awareness about men's health issues. And, the clubs' efforts not only contributed to the overall success of the campaign, but they also managed to earn Aston Students' Union a spot in the elite Bronze Award group. This Award is reserved for Universities which raise over £5,000 in a single Movember campaign.

The initiative taken by the clubs to support men's mental health is commendable, as mental health issues are often stigmatised and overlooked, especially among men. The campaign created a safe space for men to talk about their mental health and seek support if needed. The success of the campaign is a testament to the power of collective action and the impact that individuals can have when they come together for a common cause.

The clubs' efforts not only raised funds for a worthy cause but also raised awareness about men's mental health issues, which is equally important. It's essential to break the stigma surrounding mental health and create a society where men feel comfortable talking about their mental health without feeling judged.

We are extremely proud of our clubs at Aston. Their hard work and dedication to raising awareness and funds for men's mental health have made a significant impact on the community. Let’s prioritise our mental health and work towards creating a society where everyone can openly talk about their struggles and seek support without fear of judgment.
