WELCOME TO ASTON UNI'S FIRST SIGN LANGUAGE SOCIETY!!
It's a brand-new society as of 2019/20 with the aim to provide students with the ability to learn sign language in a supportive environment.
BSL is very expressive language and is in fact, very different to the English language. BSL has its own grammar and sentence structures, making it a unique language in its own right. Naturally, it’s a very visual language and it requires you to use your hands, your face and your body to make signs and communicate. This can make it a very fun language to learn and use!!
As well as raising deaf awareness among young people, students are able to pick up a variety of skills when learning sign language. Benefits of learning sign language for hearing people include –
