Are you going away or travelling home for the Christmas break? Before you leave your flat or house, there are just some things that you should remember. We've put together a handy checklist to help you out - keep on reading!

Checklist for Leaving your Property During the Holidays

  •  Empty your fridge, take your rubbish out and have a tidy round
  •  Take your valuables with you
  •  Try to make your house look occupied by putting away washed-up dishes and clothes airers out of sight. Leave your curtains   and blinds open. Install a few lights on timer switches to come on in the evening but don’t use timers on table lamps.
  •  Switch off and unplug appliances to save energy (EXCEPT the fridge / freezer)
  •  Let your landlord know you will be away. Ask if you need to turn the water supply off and how to do this.
  •  Heating – set it to come on a few times a day to avoid mould, damp and burst water pipes
  •  Secure the property by locking all windows and doors
  •  Avoid posting your whereabouts online

Make sure you keep your accommodation safe - we hope you have a lovely break!
